Enjoying reading through all of the discussions about investing and compound interest.

Even though I am saving for a mortgage, something in January just clicked and I decided to start putting away something small each week into a S&S ISA. I decided to ditch my usual morning coffees, and put the ~£10 I would normally spend into the Moneybox app. I now have £195 in the ISA, which I otherwise would've blown on coffee. Once I've bought a home, I plan on significantly ramping up the contributions.

In other news, a good week! I recently passed probation at my new role, and I just bought a £5 scratch card on a whim even though I wouldn't normally touch them; won £1,000! Put it sensibly into our mortgage pot.

I have now completed step 3 and have doubled £400 and made £800 .I have put £600 into my ISA into its own stocks and shares fund so i know exactly how its doing and will now set about doubling up the other £200 to make £400 but very pleased to be on step 4 of taking £800 and making £1600 ,i may leave 3/4 of every £800 i make and just keep doubling the £200 that way i am investing at the same time .

    Excellent. Well done you.

Record timing my wedding edit is completed in 8 days with 650+ photos (normally an average 8 hour wedding is 400-450 but there was just so much happening and everything was just so photogenic)

Literally just need to go and photoshop a few to take a few pieces out like a background sign etc that's in a strange place. Quite happy as it was a late booking and I used the money to pay off the laptop (this was a couple months ago) but it was just such a nice wedding....so glad I got it.

Lost half a stone not this week but the week before, stayed the same this week but I hurt my ankle so I've not been able to do my running, hoping I'll be back on track tomorrow and I've purchased a treadmill (for £50...money saving here right? lol) which is basic, but it lets me choose my speed and shows distance, and that's all I really wanted/needed.

I've still got a big essay to do, I have started - and I've got two weddings in the end of May and we are on holiday from Saturday but then once the two weddings are edited and the essay is in I'll have nothing to do, literally. My next wedding is in June after that but it's only 6 hours, then nothing till August as my July wedding cancelled for personal reasons.

Got so many plans, I keep putting things to one side for after May.

Also applied for a job, it's 2 evenings and 3 hours on Sunday but with no childcare costs.....I have high hopes on it as I've got experience doing it (only a basic job) although at this stage I've not even got an interview so can't speak to soon + if Hubbie gets his job then I'd have to quit again but I can't keep putting things off just in case he gets it, and you know what if we have a few months of an extra bit of money in the house it will help regardless and won't cross with the weddings either (apart from working late Friday...but at least I can still juggle it)

Moneyside is looking a bit grim but that's mainly down to the fact I've taken the holiday spending money out of our savings...it was always planned but it still looks like a drop.... will enjoy our holiday and get back to 'operation stabalize' lol

OMG, had the local rep for a major UK-wide holiday lettings company around today to give me an estimate of what sort of income we might expect on the properties we'll have available to let if we manage to pull off the one we're trying to buy. I'm glad I was sitting down when she told me - I thought that we might achieve £20k in total if we finished them to a high standard, but she thought that conservatively it would be more like £34,200!!! Even taking that with a pinch of salt, because they are actively trying to add to their portfolio in this area and get people signed up, it's still well up on what I thought we'd get. Over the moon, as this is going to make it an awful lot easier to borrow the money we need to put the accelerator down on building this business.
  • This is really good thing for you that whatever you want it happens! And you seems a creative person also...... and the money is really in creativity, try to do something different that solves social problems..... definitely, you will achieve your goal.

I haven't been around much as nothing has really moved forward. Am currently in Scotland and seeing 1/2 bedroom flats for £30k and 3 bedroom houses for £150k... that wouldn't even buy us a flat in Cornwall.

Just a quick update, didn't get the job because they asked me for more information whilst I was away (passport scan etc) said I had 14 days from the e-mail so didn't worry too much to get back for it to say Unsuccessful....so guess I was too late. Actually pretty gutted as they have other jobs advertised but none with hours that suited me so well...

One of my wedding clients paid right before we went on holiday, in cash. I was really really smart about it and we still have that £300 now sat in our savings. Could have easily been spent on 'extras' lol.

I picked up a leaflet job, not sure how long it will last but it's a bit of extra cash so why not. Will hopefully finish the big essay this week, I shot a wedding on Saturday and have another on Friday but the plan is to edit them after my friends wedding (and after the essay will be delivered) early June...so hopefully mid June will be the turn around point.

Sorry to hear about the job, keep your chin up. Is the leaflet job delivering-if it is that will help with your health kick and you will be getting paid to do it!

    Well done on the win!

Hope the doubling is working well for you.

We are just legalling (epic LL word) at the moment with the business, but hopefully will be all finished shortly.

I feel I have hit a brick wall with my other business, everything is soooo new to me, sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming. I am at this stage again now...
Need to give myself a kick up the !!!!.
