    Hi everyone....

Hope you all had a great Christmas. I did spend quite a bit of time visiting dad in hospital, he couldn't come home for Christmas so we took Christmas to him. He's dipping quite quickly but we are still hoping he can come home for a little while before the inevitable.

I have emptied my diary now so if he does come home I can help with his care. Family comes first.

There will be time enough to continue with the master plan "after" ..

Lingua......I agree with kaya......just ignore any negative comments or questions. In fact just Ignore all naysayers and doom mongerers full stop. ......:rotfl:

    If I don't get another chance .......

I would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.

Onwards and upwards my friends.......let's kick a** :D

Started reading 4-hour work week again on LL's suggestion, I had already read it but doesn't hurt to read things again. After reading a chapter last night I forced myself to put the book down cause I tend to binge read. Decided to watch a business class on creative live (it's mainly photography but they have some other stuff too) and I just saw the name Tim Ferriss. Picked up the book next to me and lo and behold it was the same guy.

If anyone is interested, you can watch a free video every day on the app. So no need to purchase if you have the patience. Tbh, I'm not over the moon with it but I have only watched 1 and half videos and it's nice to put a name to the face. Will let you know what I think once I've watched it all.

Sorry LL didn't really read the thread this morning when I posted. Hope you are coping OK. Shame about Xmas but sounds like you made the most of it.

My goals this year are pretty straight forward, lose weight & education. I had lost a stone before Xmas but somehow managed to put 3/4 back on over the hoildays but I know I can do it. Haven't been perfect these last few days but once I'm back in my routine the real fun begins. Most likey will start 100% from Monday, don't get me wrong I'm not 'putting it off, one more takeaway' mode, I'm still eating healthier and trying to fit a bit of excersize in but just not full on kcal counting.

Eldest back tomorrow and youngest starts the day after for half days.

Education wise I'm planning on just cutting back on things like Netflix and swapping them for Creative Live classes or reading more. Got my degree to focus on and I want to learn a few more skills too, like tiling for example :D all fits in the education bracket. Better cook...etc.

I always have financial goals, but tbh these are ongoing and I don't see point in setting myself a yearly goal as such but I do have a passive business income idea that I've started to work on. There are just so many ways I could go about it, it's not only deciding what the best way is, but it will be a long hard path building it. Right now though, I have to focus on getting back on track with my degree ( a bit behind) and I have 2 weddings to edit, but once they are done I don't have another wedding till March and with all the new free time I'll have with youngest at Nursery I reckon a couple weeks I'll be twiddling thumbs and ready to start my new project.

Hope you have all had a good Xmas n New year, I have to say I was 100% totally destressed/calm/zen mode for the whole week. Put work to the back of my mind and just enjoyed every min. Roll on next year is all I can say!

    Hi everyone..

Just stopping by to wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year. Let's make it a good one. :D

Dad died on Friday 30th so now I'm up to my neck in all his paperwork etc. Need to register his death, arrange a funeral, deal with his estate so I think I can more or less forget Any of my own plans for the next couple of months.

I don't know whether it was actual flu or more likely delayed shock but I haven't been too well but am slowly picking up again.

Hey ho. 2017 can only get better from Now on.

I'll be back in a couple of months.
  • Sorry to hear your news LL.
As you say, things can only get better from here.

Evening everyone, my name is TDQO and I want to be financially independent, forever!

I have spent the last six years running my own microbrewery which unfortunately went into administration in December and I was officially made redundant two days before Xmas. I have been left with two overdrafts (maxed out) and some rather nasty personal guarantees that I signed years ago when I was certain nothing could go wrong! The current balance being sought by debt collectors is £19,501 but it is early days and at least one more is likely to come out of the woodwork.

My fiance is unable to work a regular job due to ill health (she also worked at the brewery as I let her work around her illness) and is now working through the minefield of applying for sickness benefits. However she is very practical and has bags of experience in retail/customer service up to manager level. The party is completed by our beautiful rottie x spaniel rescue dog.

I am here because I have always wanted to build up multiple sources of passive income in a sustainable manner. The dream is to build up my new business(es) so that we can buy a few acres of land to provide a self sufficient (or as near as possible) lifestyle with the businesses largely running themselves.

We've both quit smoking, we've scoured the house for unneccesary items to sell and I'm setting up as self-employed and meeting various potential business partners.

My aim is to be debt free in 5-6 years and financially independent in 10-12 years... here goes!

I'm sorry for the demon I've become but you should be sorry for the angel you are not.

Hope you are coping ok LL.

Sounds like you took quite a risk but I think true entrepreneurs are the ones that just keep going, your first business might not have been a sucess but if you've got the drive and enthusiam I'm sure you'll hit gold.

I'm in same boat about passive income, I've serouisly been considering blogging. It's a long term project but I'm just trying to think of income ideas where I'm not held to one place. Whilst (what's left of it) eBay is moveable but if you want to travel the world it's not practical and I think this is my long term dream is to just travel.

I've decided instead of trying to do one big blog/information website, I've started a blog and I'm going to put a post up 1-2 a week to get started. I've had this idea for a while about a brand and doing a whole info website about it but I'd need prob 100-150 'blog posts' to pull it all together, so I thought start the blog just doing the 'posts' and when I'm ready I can put them all onto an information website, brand it, and go from their to advert ise it. If the blog happens to attract any followers through google search then fair play, and I *might* make a few quid in mean time.

I've got a few blog ideas so I'm going to do the same for all of them eventually but (as much as I keep saying it) I do have a lot on ATM but this WILL not be long term as I have two weddings to edit and a couple of essays but I'd estimate by mid feb, I'll pratically have every morning with only mininimal things to do, so I can start looking at these projects.

Diet isn't going to bad, struggling a bit but I've lost a little bit since Monday and I hadn't put on as much as I thought over Xmas.

  • Personally im aiming for Financial independence in 15 years, but the more I read the more it seems 10 years or less would be doable. I just don't think I'm on board enough to sacrifice and graft enough to shave that extra 5 years off. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to work but I don't want to live like a monk all the time just to be able to quit work only if I carry on with that extremely minimal lifestyle.

I'm quite excited on my progress this month. For the first time ever I made enough money passively from my investments to live off of (for the month). £1351 in, which is more than my outgoings for the month. Can't see it happening again any time soon, as to achieve this all my shares went up between 4 - 14% in the last 30 days and I managed to sell some p2p holdings on the secondary market at a 20% mark up to what I paid. Unlikely scenarios to be repeated.

This has boosted my networth up so I am now 1/7th of a millionaire! With a bit of luck 1/6th (or 166k) is achievable by the end of the year.

Met a couple of friends today both talking about money issues, so definitely not appropriate to say I earned more than them in passive income even if I didn't go to work this month! Good job we have these pages to get it off our chests.
