Nice to see you had a great trip to Belgium.
Hoping your whiplash injuries are better or at least on the way to recovery- have you ever see a chiropractor? Physio never worker for me but chiropractic treatment did.

Does the new writing website you were on, show the last date you have logged in?
I was looking for services through a services per hour payment site, and this site showed when people last logged in, if someone had not logged in for months this did put me off and I did not contact them for work.
Does the site let you showcase your work, do you have enough samples up?
Do they also cover a wide range of skills?
Does it have a facility for people who have used your services to feedback, have they?

Been busy the last few weeks, so only the last 2 days have I done anything significant for the new business (no 1, nothing with no 2). Just plugging away at things.

    Good luck all

    Good Morning everyone

Well now it's nearly September and Autumn is fast approaching. I love the autumn - my favourite time of the year. I always feel energised in early autumn and raring to go.

    Anyway my big news.......

As you know investment rates are now pathetic and about to get worse so I have decided to draw out most of my capital and put it to work!!!

I have had an offer accepted on a nice little town house. It will, in the fullness of time, probably be my private residence but initially I am going to remain living with my son and let the house out.

Hopefully we should be able to legally complete before Christmas,

That one will initially be mortgage free - although I may take out a small mortgage later. I am left with enough capital to use as a deposit on a second house with a BTL mortgage.

Once I have got two BTLs under my belt then I might release capital from house number one for either a flipper or a building plot.

That won't be till next year though.

In the meantime I am going to see if I can obtain planning permission for the land I already own. I am not sure how viable it is because it is a bit low lying. However, its in a lovely spot in the country and you could build a lovely family home, or even two smaller ones. Now that the green belt rules have been relaxed it might be a goer.

I am slowly recovering from the crash and I am still taking things fairly easy.

Minxy - yes I know what you mean about chiro as opposed to Physio. My treatment plan is a mix of both. I have two treatments a week. One day is chiro to realign my spine and the second is deep tissue massage to sort out my muscles. I have had six sessions now and am starting to see an improvement. I'm getting there.

My car claim has been settled but I have decided to remain car free for a whille, at least while I remain living with DS2. We are sharing his car and it's working well. We live so near the city centre that TBH we don't really need a car each, one between us is fine.

I have free bus travel and a taxi is only £4 if I'm pushed. And anyway I need to get off my derrière and walk more.:rotfl:

My son and I still enjoy living together and of course we get to share costs so we are both salting away what we are saving. So it's a great arrangement for both of us.

His house is almost finished. Just some internal joinery and then repaint a couple of rooms. Another £500 or so and then we will have finished spending.

So for the next few months it's steady as she goes, complete on the house and set it up as a BTL, finish off the last few bits of decorating here, carry on with the physio and getting fit again.

Going to try and achieve all that by Christmas. (Oh and lose another stone too). :rotfl:

Hope you are all well and making lots of money.

I started work on my plans but they took a back burner due to some personal issues (although they are going well from what I did!) everything came to a screeching halt. So now I'm behind with my weddings and havn't got much spare time...but I'm getting through. Just started my wedding from last Sat and have another on Sat but if I can get a decent way through this one I'm editing maybe I'll have a chance of catching up...

Hubbie has decided he wants us to work together and is on about expanding my business on eBay ....it could work an essentically he'd take over that business and I'd run the photography but I'm not thinking to much about it cause I have to much on. We'd need 2-3k most likey to go into the next product line and he'd need to take a forward role to take some of the pressure of me if this was to work whilst it was building up - remember he works full time, is starting a part-time degree also....so whilst I'm interested I'm just taking a back seat for now, at least until Jan. Just focus on raising funds and getting the paypal loan paid back - £1,575/£2,300 to go which is quite impressive for saying it's less then 6 months old I think. Will be paid off by Jan easily with money to spare.

Gutted I got offered an interview with an EA but we worked out I'd only be £130 better off a month without taking travel costs into account - actually I'd most likey have to give up my eBay if I had taken it so again so we'd essentially have been worse off....one day.....I guess I would have managed if it wasn't for the degree but I'd be giving up a lot for the sake of £130, although it would have benefited me in other ways....what's done is done though and it just isn't going to work.

Looking forward to how this pans out with Hubbie...I'm leaving him to it (but offering my advice) he has done all the running round working out how much profit margains are and how much it would cost to set up - it's not brillant margains but the idea would be to move off to our own website eventually or sell at higher cost once we've built up a customer base for this next product (hoping better quality then other sellers)

Will still move forward with my plans but right now my proriety is playing catch up with these weddings as I've still got 3 more Saturday's in a row to shoot.

  • hi all,
    very long time no post!

on our last few days of summer hols here, my daughter moves into 'juniors' this time and my son up to secondary school so exciting times.

moneywise we are in a much better place, far from debt free but certainly far from the position we were in a few years ago.

im currently in a bit of a 'everything happens for a reason' phase as there is a farmhouse up for rent - location ideal for schools, size ideal, land that would be utilized to essentially cover rent which would mean we pay out less than we do now...however it is sat empty and has a fair few jobs that are needed, mostly small fiddly jobs but some quite big...the owner wont budge on rent but wont bring it up to standard either which leads us to believe he has ulterior motives to let it sit rotting

we weren't looking to move so its not exactly a loss but still frustrating.

we are currently saving up/paying debts in a hope we might scoop up a bank repo somewhere in Greece as current prices are around £21000 upwards..weve seen some in kos

Hope your wife is feeling better!

Thank you, she is definitely getting there, no more crutches! It only just occurred to me I haven't seen her use one in about two weeks.

Does the new writing website you were on, show the last date you have logged in?
I was looking for services through a services per hour payment site, and this site showed when people last logged in, if someone had not logged in for months this did put me off and I did not contact them for work.

Yup, I'm on every day though!

Does the site let you showcase your work, do you have enough samples up?

    Yes they do.
No I don't. None. Thank you, first thing in the morning I'll get on it.

Do they also cover a wide range of skills?

Yes but my brain doesn't haha.

Does it have a facility for people who have used your services to feedback, have they?

Yes I have 4 feedback now, but I think I just need to write better proposals.

Been busy the last few weeks, so only the last 2 days have I done anything significant for the new business (no 1, nothing with no 2). Just plugging away at things.

    Keep plugging :)

    Good luck all

Will have a proper read of all posts again in the morning, keep up good work all. Makes me feel amazed how well you all do keeping up your revenue streams, and the hard work you put in.

In the back of the advice earlier in this thread (sorry, can't remember who posted it and I'm now in quote / reply mode and too lazy to go back!) I have fleshed out my profile on the writing website I use. I have also decided to record a video as the website allows you to host a video at the top of your profile, introducing myself etc.

I've just earned $6.50 on an app called Spare5 which will cash out Friday. Literally talking about £4 after conversion but my theory is that every few quid you can throw at a debt chips it down bit by bit. Even £4 a week would remove £208 from a debt over a year - or that would pay half of an average Spanish holiday for 2 people.

Does anyone else LOVE technology? I was a kid (pre-teen) when the first Nokia handsets were around, I can't believe we've come so far that I can just earn a little extra money lay on the sofa on a lazy Saturday.

In terms of weekend spends, this week should be a cheapie. We had pizza yesterday, £10 from Pizza Hut thanks to a voucher. We have a full one left in the fridge for lunch and we're having a lazy day in. Tomorrow, we have tickets for comic con already paid for.

Congratulations on the house purchase , hope all goes smoothly for you.
Are you looking for your next BTL also now, or going to complete on the first property first? Wasn't sure if your "wait to next year" comment was about the 2nd BTL or house flipping/building plot plans.
If its the former  best of luck, don't think I would have the nerves and patience to deal with 2 estate agents/solicitors etc at the same time.
    Glad your health is improving.

    Kay
Hope your managing to catch up, and this weeks wedding goes/went well.

Your right things happen for a reason, even when you have no clue what the reason is at the time!
Exciting for you looking into property abroad, have you purchased abroad before or is this a new avenue?

Good news your wife is recovering.
Hope the additions to your profile equate to more work.
You are right every penny earnt is important, always important to remember that, and I like to remind myself every penny saved is equally important.

Met up with a friend earlier- 5 hours chatting away and I would have guessed I had only been there a couple. Always lovely to catch up.
    House spingely spangely clean.
Everything I had tasked myself to do today for company one completed already, so I may get a head start on tomorrow tasks (or may have some chill time and see how I feel later)...
Lovely homemade dinner ready for when Mr Minxy is home.

Today I am awarding myself 1st place as, Ms 1950's housewife with top business lady thrown in :rotfl:

    Hope you are all well.
  • love reading where everyone is up to but when I come to reply I forget who has said what and what I wanted to say to you all

Ive never bought abroad before so im currently trying to do my research as ive heard plenty of horror stories

Today both kids are back in school..sons first day at secondary! I take my cap off to all stay at home parents as I know I couldn't be at home with my kids full time, even more so once you are at this stage where come 830am I had nothing to do as house is tidy, paperwork up to date etc and ive no school run this afternoon as daughter going to dads tonight and son making his own way home.

Back to work tomorrow and a very busy autumn/winter as im booked up until January.

We have cut back on AIRBNB due to a comment from a neighbour (tried to make out we had upset all our neighbours but upon chatting to other neighbours to apologize if we had upset them,,,they said not at all and the 1 that had approached us had actually approached them too to try and rally them to complain too!)

This week I have been pretending I am back to having no money so every time I think about spending I tell myself I cant. so far I have noted 5 incidences where I was going to 'nip to the shop' or 'sod cooking tea' but stopped myself.

I cope by keeping busy with my businesses personally, degree opened today. Honestly don't know how parents do it, I have a few girls from school runs that are single and just not working....I just don't really know what they do with their time...not being insulting it just baffles me.

It's really really scary to say the least. I'm having serouis doubts whether or not I can do this but I'll push forward, perhaps just cold feet ATM and I'm just so phyiscally tired. These weddings are really taking it out of me, I feel like I finally recover from one as the aches/tiredness starts to fade and I'm doing another one.....2 more to go out of the 4...

I FINALLY finished my book (black hole focus) and currently working on my inspirational board, one of my goals is to get a 1st in my degree and it seemed possible until I started looking at the essay's I need to write...I did rave about it and it IS a good book, but better ones exisit. I would still say pick up a copy if you were looking for motivation though.

Interesting their is a guy out their who had 2.6million turnover from selling marshmellows with photos on...never heard of them but they are in my case study.....marsh mellows!!!
