  • Thanks, it says 70-80% is it worth trying or am i just risking too many searches?

This will only be your 2nd search right? Cant see thay being a problem aslong as you dont make any further CC searches and at 70-80% it would seem you have a strong chance of getting accepted.

Im going to leave it, i just think that if Vanquis said no and they give to the walking dead something is not working for them. Maybe i just need to get a few more nice green 0's on the accounts i have.

I may phone Vanquis and ask why?? Im guessing its just no history and nothing more, will also have a word with Halifax my actual bank who can see straight away how i have run my account and the money that goes in and mostly stays in, lol.

Thank you so much for all the time you have taken to respond, i am very grateful it always makes me smile that total strangers will take time to help people.

    1. get or know your records.

I check my files monthly and update. I use Internet banking daily.

    2. decide to take actions. It is worth getting your credit rating back up to scratch.
I have no reason other than no credit history so to speak.

    3. Beware of credit repair
This is not urgent I would never pay for something I can achieve myself with time. So 100% with you :T

    4. Borrow to build your credit. Credit repair companies advertise a service that purports to be able to clean up your credit file.
Nothing at all to clean up, not one bad thing on my file.:)

    5. County court judgement. If your finances have gone awry and you have county court judgments in your name, pay off the debt in full and make sure that records at the Register of County Court Judgments are amended.
Never had any of these things, have no debt whatsoever.

    6. Make your mortgage work for you.
Don't have a mortgage, husband owns property out right so no need.

    7. I have sought help on here! It was mainly were utility bills and council tax beneficial towards it. I have time and don't actually need any credit etc so will just plod on.

Thank you for responding, grateful for all responses. I have replied above to each question. I'm not sure if you misread, but I don't have any bad debt, I just have no history, partly due to living in Asia for many years and not needing or using UK facilities. I'm working on introducing them slowly now and will just give it 12 months I think and keep getting the green positives on my credit files between now and then. Will speak with my bank though, just to hear their thoughts but as said by someone who responded before, I'm likely not seen as a good prospect because my accounts are in ++ positive always and I don't use my overdraft ever.

If you call into your Halifax branch they'll be able to tell you if you're 'pre-approved' for a credit card (and let you know the likely limit).

Just one other thing...do you have any financial associations showing on your credit reports?

Welcome to MSE. Many (most?) people posting from the USA seem to overlook that this site is based in the UK. Your advice could apply anywhwere worldwide, apart from #5 which seems UK-specific.

I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

Hi, no none at all. I seriously don't get it , I'm not just saying that and secretly hiding things and not giving the whole story. I almost wish I knew how to post up without personal details my credit files and show people

Never ever use one of these services - they cannot do anything for you that you cannot do yourself.

Most of the other points mentioned are clearly not applicable to the OP.

Quick update, i have spoken to my bank and they agreed it was in good order and i would likely get approved, but then went on to say it is still a fairly new. Im going to leave it good 6 months and then go back to them, i dont want to push things for no need.

They will appear on your credit report and add lots of green 0s if paid on time - However not sure how much contracts improve someone's rating but they certainly don't harm it!
