It's the time of the year I have to search for insurance again. And despite all those flipping adverts about compare websites it takes me all my time to compare the websites against each other.

I've just passed my 25th Birthday (a threshold for car insurance i believe) and have 4 years no claims, yet they want me to pay more!!

1996 Corsa and my renewal quote to beat is £317.88 (£26.49 a month)

Last years cost £238 (£21.69 a month) with £40 cashback, so £198 really.

So, an increase of £79.88 (or an extra £119.88 if cashback is included)

Quotes so far are:

Money supermarket: £338
Confused.com:£304
Compare the market: £317
Go Compare: £330
Cheap car insurance britain: £350
Uswitch: £323

(oh, and i do love how the same companies provide different price's on each site)

I'm livid  I understand there has been the change in law about descrimination but whats the flipping point.

I shall continue my search, i'm just rather annoyed and wanted a rant. I gain in age, experience and no claims, yet my insurance still gains regardless.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

Insurance has risen by an average of 40% in the last year for everybody due to fraudulent claims, so count yourself lucky you only saw an increase of just over 25%.
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.
  • As i reached each of life's age milestone's i looked forward to this fabled cheap insurance benefit, never happened to me either.

Inflated premiums due to incompetent drivers, fraud, claimsRus types, and those who *need* a 5 series BMW courtesy car instead of an Aygo, are just another price we have to pay for a country riddled with dishonest people.

So, it's the customer once again soley to blame, and nothing to do with the record profits, and the increasing annual bonuses paid out?

Buy shares in the companies who provide insurance, that's the only way to win. Simples.

That's true, the share price has doubled for a lot of them over the last two years.

Try NFU. someone recommended them to me on here last week, they are not the cheapest overall quote, but they are not far off. my cheapest is Hastings who want £240 first payment then £90 a month or something silly. NFU quoted me £102 first payment then £102 a month from then on in? the interest is much lower than hastings so works out similar... they have local offices too, and dont charge admin fees for amendments!

    You missed out "weight"?? Sorry;)

Gone are the days when premiums drmatically dropped at age 25, mine went dowm by about 30 if I recall back then, but the insurers break down the risk factors much more these days so there is no safe driver age.

What actually bugs me is why the company I've been with for years, (and I do compare every year), quotesa me a different price on the renewal to that I get online??? Sometimes cheaper one way, sometimes the other, just go for the cheapest and an annoying phone call every time:mad:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

That's astronomical, do you get a free car with that?

When I was 17 I paid £500 to insure my first car, a Morris Marina, 3rd party F&T. I am now paying almost £400 a year to insure my current car, a 2.0 Mondeo fully comp. I'm 41 years old, where's the discount for my experience and NCD etc?

OK so I know £500 was a lot more back in 1987 and as a percentage of my disposible income it was again much more, but still.

I have NEVER claimed on my car insurance, it's just like throwing money down the drain.

Currently I believe the police crush vehicles that have been seized where there's no tax/insurance etc, maybe they should sell them and give the money to the insurance companies so they can reduce the premiums of the "decent" drivers.
