Tesco - Wine Server crashed - all orders LOST!!

I'm sure that this isn't the correct prlace to post this, but as the "Vent" forum doesn't have any posts (or viewers) I thought this may be more helpful.

I placed an online wine order which should have been delivered today. I called the "help-line" to report that delivery had not taken place and was told that thier Wine Server had crashed and lost all orders. Therefore I would have to place my order again.

I was dubious about this because no Company, large or small, does not maintain back-ups of all computer data.

When I tried to place the order again, I found that the 25%-off deal had closed and that some of the wines I wanted were not available.

Does anyone else have knowledge of this? Are they REALLY that inefficient? Or is this just a way to close off a discount deal that was costing them too much?

  • Thanks Surfsister.

I called the Help-line back and this time was helped.

I have now been told that, so long as I order before Friday, I will get 25%off my order, ecoupon honoured and an extra £10 off. This will be done manually when I phone the help-line on the day of delivery.

I wish the original customer services lady had received the message!

To sum up - YES, Tesco really is that inefficiant - but they are now trying to recoup the mess-up.
