Paying for an unsuccessful car repair?
About a month ago our Peugeot 206 broke down. The RAC came and said that one of the injectors was faulty and we took it to our local garage.
A week later we received the car back repaired (or so we thought) and paid £ 280. The next day we used the car and had the same fault again.
Took it back to our local garage and a month later they have given up and said they can't fix it and we'd have to pay for all the work they have done on it.
Now we not only are paying/have paid for 2 unsuccessful repairs, but also will have to take it to the Peugeot Garage and pay for another repair.
This surely can't be legitimate (I know in Germany and service providers can only charge for successful repairs and if a repaired vehicle breaks down with the same fault within 6 months they have to repair it again for free).
What is the situation here in the UK. Surely it can't be right that we are paying 3 times for the same repair?
Please any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Bille

Sadly it is. A garage can charge for diagnostics.0

The garage have a duty to carry out their work with due skill and care, if their work has not come to a standard expected, it would seem you may have a case. I would suggest getting an independent report done on the standard of work already carried out.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
