Incorrect time on meter
I have a digital E7 meter. The time is showing over 2 hours too slow.
Does this matter?
I can hear a distinctive "clunk" at 1.30am when I am assuming the E7 is kicking in and again at 8.30am when it is going off. However, the digital clock doesnt reflect these times.
Any thoughts?

I have a digital E7 meter too, mine is an hour slow, but that's GMT, did n't change automatically to BST...don't know if it's supposed too or not?0 -
You don't say how 'wrong' the time is, however if you can hear the clunk is there an old timeswitch next to the meter which controls the rate change? Then it would not matter what the meter says as long as it's recording the 2 rates. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

As above!;)Foggster wrote:The time is showing over 2 hours too slow.0 -
Let your supplier know the clock needs resetting or replacing, they should sort it out at no cost to you.0

The time is slow on the electricity meter outside .. .. or the time is slow on the digital clock / timer you set with summer / winter inside your home?
As others have said, its a telemetry switch anyway and is out of your control, hence the reason you yourself say "" the digital clock doesnt reflect these times ""
I suspect you are describing an internal domestic switch you have not set to BST and not what you say is the meter.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Some customers have teleswitches. However, some have timeswitches. These change mechanically (or elctronically) and do go wrong - often!
The time should be an hour slow at this time of year - they do not adjust for British Summer Time. If the timeswitch is less than two hours out, you may find that your supplier will not be prepared to come out and repair/replace it.0 -
As long as you are getting the correct 7 hours then it doesn't really matter what time it shows.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Thats not quite correct is it. What it means is you seem to be getting the cheaper rate for a 7 hour period that is not what the supplier expects.
It seem to be better for you, in as much as if you do your washing and drying before 8:30, you will pay the cheaper rate for the electricity you are using during what I would term is "day".
The ‘peak-hours’ during the day however, will be a lot more expensive, so if the tariff isn’t managed effectively, your electricity can end up costing you significantly more than a customer on a standard energy tariff.0 -
- telemetry or time switch
- winter or summer
- variable start and finish
- fixed start and finish
- 7 hours is 7 hours
So if you are on the old clockwork / capacitor based Horstmman type switch and are two hours out minus you will get 5 instead of 7 hours @ cheap rate and if you are out two hours plus you will get 5 instead of 7 hours @ cheap rate. Either way you cost yourself two night rate hours. If its internal put your clock right. If its an approved and verified by Ofgem external E7 meter with an LCD screen they don't have a clock on them - at least I've never seen one with a time clock !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. You shouldn;t put the clock right yourself - it should be done by an authorised worker. In any case, most people wouldn;t know how to do it themselves
Also you will still get 7 hours cheaper rate electric (unless the timeswitch has stopped), it just won;t be the correct seven hours!0
