Mismatched tomato flowers

I can't remember the name of the two plants I've got, but they were described as ugly but tasty. But the flowers are weird - the first ones are opening now, and they're huge... like mini sunflowers
But on the same plant are more normal looking flowers... bigger than average I'd say, but with a normal amount of petals. Is this unusual in a tomato?

sounds like marmande. Some of the first flowers that I grew last year were similar. Normal for heritage tomatoes I'm informed reliably.0

Happened on a few varieties I grew in the last couple of years - happens with large fruiting tomatoes sometimes. Fruit from them will be huge and misshapen, but if you're happy with that just leave them, they'll be fine.
Called fused blossoms. 0 -
Hi,
Yes, I think they will be 'Marmande'. The flowers are bigger & for some reason, the firsst few can often be sort of fused together like the previous post says. It's nothing to worry about. The tomatoes are big, irregular & so can the plants be at times, but they taste lovely & make fantastic pasta sauce for stocking up the freezer for winter. I used to find that one slice could fill a whole bread roll, so that was quick packed lunches, with a bit of ham or cheese thrown in!2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
