Acer Laptop

My son wants a new laptop and has chosen this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004H1T68U/ref=asc_df_B004H1T68U2814755/?linkCode=asn&creative=22110&!!!!!reevoocomfalse-21&creativeASIN=B004H1T68U. My problem is I believed that Acer were not very good, what do you think?

    Your belief is correct, they are nothing short of utter s**te and have been for quite a while.
    Tell him to go for a Toshiba or Asus if he wants reliability and build quality.
    Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.

    Most Acer's are built by the same companies who build for Toshiba and others. I have both Toshiba and Acer branded laptops (all built by a company called Compal) around the house and they're just as good as each other.

    Theres nothing wrong with acers, they are cheap and reliable. Apart from my most recent laptop (compaq) I've only ever had acers and only sold them on because I wanted an upgrade in hardware.

    All manufacturers produce some hardware that breaks even apple, even if apple don't admit it.
