Hi All,
Firstly thanks to all the posters here who have passed on some invaluable advice to me during my time lurking on the forums
/// RANT START ///
Just feel the need to scream and shout about my solicitors and thought I might get the most sympathy from those of you who have no doubt been in my posistion many times.
Me and my OH are essentially both first time buyers and are furiously trying to get our house to complete before the hallowed 25th of the month, to date everybody seems to have been really great in helping us achieve this, well all apart from our solicitors :mad:
They seem to never be contactable on the phone and when I do manage to get hold of them they are SOOO SLOOOOW to do anything.
The latest amusing :rolleyes: conversation was at lunchtime today where I called to report that my contracts (that were definatley to be posted on monday evening) had not arrived and I was concerened they were lost in the christmas post, only to find out that they were still sitting in the out box waiting to receive their stamps (hopefully tonight).
While I realise we are not the most important people in the world I cant help thinking they are doing this just to annoy
If I lose our little family home due to their feet dragging then their christmas will be just as miserable as ours
/// RANT OVER ///
If anyone can suggest anything to make them pull their finger out, just a little, it will be great fully received.
Thanks Again
Ross

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Can you go and pick the contracts up? Maybe sign on the spot when you get there?

i know that feeling- but at the end of the day you pay them for a service. If they are not providing the service- consumer revenge!
I would approach it like this, in a nicey nicey way
"Look im wondering whether there is a problem I need to be aware of at your end, meaning vital post isnt sent? ONly if there is, Id like to know, as clearly Im getting agitated ( lay on the im a ftb, v nervous etc) and if theres a good reason why my case isnt being sorted, is there another sol who has a lighter workload?
Offer solutions- show you are reasonable, but at the end of the day that should be a ajor HINT you are not happy and they will probably reflect that there isnt a good reason why the post of all things isnt being dealth with ( god a work experience kid could send post!):beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? When my dad died my solicitors kept saying they would post stuff to me but I kept going to their office to sort things out. I think it helped get them to pull their fingers out. You can't say something is in the post when the person is in front of you.

I must admit I laughed when I read the title of your post.
Apologies..I know it's frustrating.
I have used many...many solicitors...each of them more useless than the previous one.
At one point, I marched into the office, the conversation went a bit like this :-
" Sir, do you have an appointment?"
"No!!"
Walked into the top solicitor's office, ranted and raved , and guess what, paperwork completed that day.
Fortunately, I now have one that works for ME0 -
News today from my solicitors, who Im not completely sure don't read this board

Got contracts through this morning, now all signed and read to be taken back in tomorrow when I also have an appointment to sign the Consumer Credit Agreement to finalize the mortgage
Looks like all is back on track but Im trying not to get too excited
YAY!!!

I always find dropping the word 'disappointed' into a conversation when complaining about something seems to work. Such a little word has a really big effect.
