Return to sender & re-send - do you charge?

The buyer did not collect my item from the royal mail delivery office in time, dispite being given a "while you were out" jobbie and chasing me about where the item was. The item is now being returned to me by royal mail. The buyer just said "send them to me again" and no word of money. What do you usually do in this situ? I did send them recorded aswell.
Thanks in advance.

This is annoying, I've had a few of these, and just send them again at my own cost. Mine have all been £1.95 postage so not too bad, but I suppose if the postage was really high I might ask the buyer for a contribution.
I also had one returned to sender a second time! This time I've contacted the buyer a few times to say do you still want the item, is so can you pay for the postage as this will be the third time. Yet to hear from buyer.

Can I ask how you KNOW the buyer was given a 'card'? Usually if the buyer is chasing and the parcel is already RTS, it is because the lazy postie didn't even try and deliver and certainly never left a card!

I am afraid it is up to the seller to get the item to the buyer. If you don't then you risk losing the whole sale and the original postage.

They contacted me saying they had received nothing, i replied saying I had tracked it and it was awaiting collection at the delivery office. Then they replied saying that they found a card and would try and collect it. The card must have been with them at least 10 days.

That's the problem then, recorded is onyl held for 7 days unlike the rest of standard mail which is held for 3 weeks.

You can always ask them for the money, but if they don't pay you are rather stuck.

    indeed
I would tell them they can have their item if they cover the postage,or offer a refund sans postage
yes if they go via eBay/PP you will lose out but i would still make that offer
