damaged tv stand euro aerials advice please

hi please could anyone give advice on rights and where i go from here;

on the2/4/2011 we had a freesat digital box and satellite dish installed, now on the day it was to be installed of which it was down for 12 - 3 no one came at 3pm so i rang them and the lady said sorry but the guy who was supposed to call was off that day but she would have someone there. a tecnician came at between 4-430 and it was not a good start, he came in threw his dirty drill on the new living room carpet and before my husband got from the front door to the living room he had grabbed the tv stand by one leg ( only 18 months old ) with tv, blu-ray and another dvd recorder on it, swung it out and did what he needed to do moaning all the time he had to get home to sheffield.
he showed my husband a quick set up of what to do with digi box and satellite and said any trouble just ring up and went. my husband had to run after him to ask where gromit was as he had not even bothered to do that. my husband then went to put tv stand back and found it was broken, i rang the bbc right away 2 mins after the guy had gone and they got in touch with euro aerials, they rang me and asked about it and said they would send out a guy to take pictures of which he duly did on the 6/4/2011 a couple of days later they rang to say the cheque for the lower est would be sent out £75. week later and nothing so i rang them again and they said sorry there had been an oversight and cheque would be on it's way, another week later and still nothing i rang again and they then said the engineer was disputeing what had happened and we might have to meet them half way but the manager would make his decision and they would let me know, i have rang today and they are now saying there not paying anything out now saying basicaly ( we did the damage :wall: what can i do about this.. anyone with any help i should be grateful. many thanks in advance

sorry forgot, due to them telling me they would send the cheque ( twice ) I PUT A £10 DEPOSIT ON THE T.V STAND

I'm confused, why did you ring the BBC?

As for the deposit on the stand, that doesn't come into it, you did that separately.

As for rights I guess it is your word against theirs, its all about proof now.

I can only think the company is passing the cost onto the installer so they've all got together to say nothing happened - it will need a letter of action with the associated photos etc. I would guess.

many thanks visidigi, i had euro aerials through the bbc it was a deal out for people who are disabled, sounds like i don't have much hope then but will keep my thinking head on to see what i can do as it's my word against his, like so many others you have to give in, oh well was worth asking advice. many thanks again :beer:
