I used to fly to Hamburg a lot. Always used BA, always reliable.
A single at the moment is £87 (from LHR), that includes everything - no baggage surcharge, no charge for using the loo, no charge for picking your seat - or picking your nose !
You used to get a free drink and a bag of [STRIKE]nuts[/STRIKE] pretezels !

The "headline" price on Easyjet (from LGW) is £193.99 !!!!!
The "total" price on Ryanair is £164.06 (From STN)!!! (Lubeck is half way to Sweden as well !) PS: 0625 departure too !!

These so-called budget airlines are such good value, aren't they ?

You could look at the ferry from Harwich, but it is a 24 hour trip just to get there. Hey, make a mini cruise out of it!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

just finished booking my trip, same situation as you

i've gone with the following for two of us.

flight from east midlands to amsterdam = fri - sun = £163
    train from amsterdam to Hamburg = sat - sun=approx £155 (176euros)

works out roughly £160 each but the bonus of a night out in amsterdam but obviously a 6 hour train journey isnt ideal but it beats driving
