Please help this worthwhile campaign

You good and caring folk may or may not know that the government is rumoured to be going against strong public opinion and denying these poor creatures any compassion,by refusing to legislate for a ban on using wild animals in circuses.The outcry over Anne the elephant recently should have made them realise the depth of feeling.Even Defra agree it is high time this cruel form of entertainment was stopped.

There is a very good petition gathering momentum through the Independent,it only started last Friday after the rumours,and already they have over 11,000 signatures.They are now aiming for 20,000 by Friday.Please help by signing,there is no risk,they don't display your email address and won't even contact you.

I have signed the petition....I tell you why. I went to the Moscow State Circus in Moscow, a number of years ago. I had never been to a circus. They brought out Polar Bears on ice skates...to skate around an ice rink. I was disgusted! Their claws had apparently been removed.....but it makes you wonder what they did to them to make them ice skate..
