Problems switching to British Gas
I applied to have my electricity supply moved over from n-power to British Gas, I applied via u-switch in October last year. I've had emails and letter confirming that I will be switched over, but as of yet it still has not happened, it has been 7 months now. I have contacted them on several occasions, and they have said that for some reason my account keeps getting closed, they say they will contact me within a few day to tell me what's going on, but they never do.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any suggestions about what I should do?

Hi there
I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you have had changing to British Gas, not to mention people not calling when agreed. If you are able to email me your name and address at PAYGE_MSE_contact@britishgas.co.uk then I could look into this for you and find out exactly what is happening.
Thanks“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of British Gas. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
I had extreme difficulty getting AWAY FROM British Gas.
Their customer service must be the worst of all the Utility companies - they just pass the buck from one department to another, with nobody ever taking responsibility to resolve whatever your query is.
My (second!) problem was that I was trying to get a promised £50 cashback credited to my account after a 12 month term with them. It took me 6 months to finally get it and I only managed to do that by threatening to leave them - which I did as soon as they credited it.
Personally, I'd give up on them and change to one of the other suppliers - I've tried 4 so far in 6 years. None of them are perfect but BG just scrapes the bottom of the barrel if you need an answer to a query.0 -
