Hi guys,
looking for a bit of help in booking a hotel in san antonio for 3 nights from june 20th.
Never been before and can't decide on a hotel, so opening it up to the forum to see if anyone has any advice for a place to stay or one to avoid.
Looking at a budget of upto $120 p/n inclusive of tax, preferably in the downtown/riverwalk area
cheers,
zaf

Can't help you with the hotel as I camped in San Antonio, BUT just wanted to say its a fab place, sure you will have an amazing time! Being near the Riverwalk sound like a good idea as it is lovely there, but if not the buses were pretty good when I was there

I'm a huge fan of Homewood suites (2 rooms, free breakfast, free dinner / drinks Mon-Fri).
The one on teh riverwalk is in budget.

Sorry our budget was in dollars, not pounds, should have made it pounds in fairness, so this one is a bit rich for my blood but seems lovely none the less.
The only reason i'm being so tight with the budget is we have a lot of hotels to pay for gonna be in the states for 4 weeks jumping about from city to city, and just realised getting to New Orleans after SA is gonna be expensive! Fortunately the hotel there is already paid for.
Found this one, The St Anthony Riverwalk, Wyndham Hotel it's on sale at expedia and a few others for £157 ($260) for our dates. Seems ok, no breakfast though.
My soon to be wife spotted the travelodge alamo for £105 ($171) on booking.com but i'm not sure, something just doesn't sit right with me on that one

Any must do's? (Alamo excluded)

Ah, I read it as GBP, and not dollars. Apologies

Travelodge's are pretty dire over here from what I've seen.
This place has decent reviews -

we stayed at O'Caseys Bed & Breakfast in San Antonio and would unreservedly recommend it, as would tripadvisor people. ( i realise that it isn't a hotel, but it as such a good place to stay, it was worth a mention).
If you do go down the hotel route, neilbond007 (neilbourne:D;)), is bang on with his Homewood Suites recommendation - but be sure to sign up for Hilton HHonours first and also the 1000 points per night extra promotion. With the Hilton Group, you can quickly get the points for a free night in one of their worldwide hotels.0
