Scottish Hydro - Scam

Just answered the door to a meter reader (id checked) - so he said - told him I was with Npower and he said he knew that cause Npower buy my gas and electricity from them.

Then when taking the meter readings he tells me that Scottish Hydro are trying to take off the ground rent - ok I listens. Then he compares my charges to Scottish Hydro charges (favourable to Scottish Hydro) - and the way to remove the extra charge is by moving to Scottish Hydro - I says Npower give £100 discount. He offers £120 discount. I says you are doing this under false pretence, you are not trying to get a charge removed you are wanting me to switch suppliers.

Now I am a wee bit streetwise (moving from Scottish hydro to Npower as they were cheaper) but surely this should not be allowed. I actually thought he was here to read my meter - despite it being another Company.

That is potentially misleading and would lead to a missale, NPower, SSE (includes Scottish Hydro/SWALEC/ATLANTIC/Southern Electric), EDF and Scottish Power, door to door/face to face sales are being investigated by ofgem currently, due to these sorts of tactics, if you go on ofgem website you can see all open investigations.
