Bloody BT

Was late with my payment last month, which I have been charged for(fair enough, I was late paying) but they have also charged me for reconnecting my line, use both broadband and calls.

Spoke to BT, who have told me that they cannot refund the charge rolleyes.gif but I'm sure they can.

My bill is £50 odd this month, and really can't afford it, use the phone eves and weekends, and only use it in the day to call places like direct.gov for jobs.

They are saying that I have to pay £118 to cancel, which is a lot, but would rather pay that then be taken for a ride each month.

Has anyone got their charges taken off?

Am with Sky for TV so think will go with them for Broadband and calls.

If you cant afford to pay your phone bill, perhaps you should cancel your Sky sub and put the funds towards the phone bill?
Why is paying your bill each month being 'taken for a ride'?
How do you manage to spend £50pm on your landline bill? BT line rental and Anytime package are less than £19pm-time to change tariff?

As a sky customer who has just opted to pay the remaining 6 months of my sky contract for the phone call charge rip off take my warning and think about it well first.
I am with you when you say you would rather pay than be taken for a ride each month:T

IIRC BT are very crafty in "assuming" contract renewal after the end of 12 months & this is what they are using to claim this outrageous amount. Talk to Sky first regarding the phone line before having a rant at BT as you may have to keep BT sweet in order to keep the phone line even if you pay Sky thereafter.

Personally would never have a BT line.

But we don't even know if the OP is out of their minimum term contract? The £118 may just be the balance owing under the contract.
OP's objection is that they didn't pay their bill, got disconnected, and had to pay a reconnection fee.
Which doesn't really come as a great surprise...
