Had a browse around B&Q and was amazed that plant prices are so high, surely 20% up on last year.
A foxglove in 1l pot was over £6, shrubs were closer to £15.
Madness. I shall be even more keen on collecting seedlings and swapping!

B&Q? boy, last time I put a foot in there was for their Christmas power-tool sale (I bought few tools at 50%, making them quite cheap). I wouldn't buy anything at full whack from B&Q.0

That's why I love Thompson and Morgan and all their offers too! This year I've bought 3 Buddleia Buzz,84 Begonias,84 Petunias,6 Strawberry Mount Everest,20 Potato tubers,1 Tree Peony,6 White Egret Orchids tubers,84 Busy Lizzies,42 Sweet Peas and 42 Gazinias (all plugs apart from strawberries and tubers) plus 3 packets of seeds and due to vouchers, discounts and offers only paid a total of....
£18.50:D
I wil never go to places like B&Q again, plug plants all the way now..ok so they take up room in my kitchen while growing but I'd say it's worth it for what will be a colourful bargain garden:D Well..apart from the decking, fence and pond anyway!!!!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

They're so pretty aren't they! Wild flowers do look lovely
Amazing how much you pay in shops for something that grows wild anyway lolIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

lol, you do know that these items were sold at there RRP for 2 months and then made 50% off to make you feel like you were getting a good price. B&Q had no intention of ever selling them at full price just if they did it was a bonus. you essentially did pay full price.
You'd have got a bargain if you would have bought there ex-display tools (like me
)
Makita 18v drill: Original RRP £199, actual RRP £99, My price (£3.33 1/3)
Dewalt 710w (think) planer : RRP £140, my price £3.33 1/3
Dewalt SDS Core drill: actual RRP£199, my price £ 3.33 1/3
then later on, bosch router for a fiver.
Dont think they intend on most customers paying 'full whack' hence the reason there is always a sale on some department in the store
Sorry just wanted to have a dig. and also like to point out that most of the power tool sale was started up again a couple of weeks ago with ryobi (thinking this is what you mightve bought?!?!) 70% off0 -

Think youll find they have a newspaper/brochure with a 15/20% off voucher on certain plants. not too sure whats in it though?!?! At least gets them back to last years prices (nearly)0 -

I think all ours must come from the fact my area was orginally farm land, its a bit odd as i live in birmingham and got shops etc to one side but then to the side there is one row of houses and then its all farm land behind with a brook so full of wild flowers , raspberrys etc

Go to your local nursery instead, unlikely they will be anywhere near as pricy as the sheds. Don't forget a lot of their stuff (the sheds) comes from over the North Sea so will be dearer. Go for local grown every time. Plants are better looked after as well. Have you tried getting growing help from B&Q? Advertisment over.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I didn't! I got some trays of bedding from their 'sick and dying' section at 50% discount. Fine after being plunged into water...0 -
I bought a tiny, "near dead" Hebe from B+Q for just 10p.
