Potential vendor not well

At the risk of sounding like a heartless sod. I am wondering how the ill-health of out potential vendor would effect the sale.
In the worst case scenario, could it lead to a sale falling through

Of course it could delay things depending on how poorly.0

Depends whats wrong. the vendor might not be well enough to move. the move might become more urgent as the vendor needs some other type of accomodation. it might just be a short blip while they get over it or it could mean they take the house off the market. heaven forfend but if this were a short terminal illness, the sale would then become subject to probate and you would have to deal with the executors, potentially during a time of shock and grief.
How long did you say that piece of string was?0 -
The house is empty as it stands. It is still furnished but we are told no one will be moving back in. I didn't want to pry too much on the first viewing, but i suspect the vendor may have had to go into a home.
I cant see the vendor returning and pulling the house off the market given the admittedly limited info i have gathered.0
