Hope you get it sorted! I've had a pretty good experience thus far with eBay, although I'll probably run into a problem now I've just said that :)

Yep, its good till it goes wrong, and the process is a complicated maze of links when it does go wrong, thankfully some people will help, don't let any posts here telling you to quit stop you asking for help.
    Owed out = lots.

I put in a request to cancel transaction, on the basis that the listing was wrong, the "Buy It Now" i wanted as money right there and then, not in a few days.

If you think i should give up, why don't you leave any advice about eBay to people on this forum who are willing to give it, and just not post in the threads that ask for any help? I think you need to re asses why your on the MSE forums if this is your attitude, maybe you should step away for a while?

Could you point me in the direction of where I said you should give up ebay? I suggested that you read up some more on it, as you could end up losing your account.
BIN customers have the 4 days to pay that an auction winner does before you can open a NPB. If you've annoyed the buyer they won't agree to a mutual so you'll be stuck with your FVF's.

OK cheers i will wait, i wish i never listed it now :(

Ebay cannot be held responsible for your inability to read what was clearly displayed on the screen in front of you.

It didn't go wrong. The seller didn't tick the box for immediate payment when they listed it as a BIN so Ebay didn't ask for immediate payment when someone bought it.

And as a buyer, if you tried to welch out of the deal and try to NPB me because of your stupidity, I'd neg you to hell.

Actually the advice on a mutual and timings is incorrect in this thread.

A mutual can be opened immediately. The cancellation can take place as soon as the buyer agrees. If the buyer does not agree, they can close it immediately and the seller receives no reimbursement of fees. However, if the buyer takes NO ACTION on the case, it times out in 7 days from opening, NOT 10.
    2. Cancel the transaction in our Resolution Centre.

You'll open a case at our Resolution Centre, which creates a dialogue between you and the buyer through our system and tracks your case for you. Learn more about how to use the Resolution Centre
    Timing is important
    • You can open your case immediately to 45 days after the sale

The buyer has up to 7 days to respond to your case. If you haven't heard back after 7 days, you can close the case and you'll receive your final value fee credit

You need to close your case within 60 days of the transaction:
      • If the buyer agrees to cancel, your final value fee will be credited to your account
      • On the 61st day after the end of the transaction, if you haven't closed your case, eBay automatically closes it and you are not credited the final value fee
      • Once your case is closed by you or eBay, you can't reopen the case
However OP, what you did was still wrong. The buyer does not have to pay immediately unless you had that option ticked. Your best bet is that they forget and the case times out or that they agree. They still can leave you feedback regardless.

OP, if you ever come across this situation again, don't relist the item. Send an invoice through paypal to the buyer directly. This gives them full buyer protection and stops a second buyer darting in. Leaving the original isting in place ensures that if they back out, you have no further messing.
