This depends on what your circumstances are.
You should be getting Child Benefit and may be able to get child tax credits.
You should be receiving Child Maintanence from the father of the child.
Are you working? How old is the child? Do you have any savings?

You may be able to claim low income benefits such as housing benefit and council tax benefit.

It may be worth calling the JCP benefits advisors and going through your circumstances with them and also making an appointment with your local council to discuss housing benefit and council tax benefit
