problems finding shoes to fit

Options
my mum cant find any shoes to fit she has hammer toe. She has been under the hospital to have shoes made but they couldnt help? She has ordered from mail order catalogues but no luck?

She bought a pair of shoes recently from a shop that cost £70. She said she tried them on but when she got home they were no good. She did walk in the shop in them. She now dosent know whether she can get a refund she thinks not and she finds it stressful having to return to the shop.

I begin to wonder whether she will find any shoes does anyone know anything that might be of use. I have not heard of this before really.

You can have shoes made for you but they are a couple of thousand pounds and there is still no guarantee they will fit.

Thanks.

Cosyfeet? I'm sure they've been mentioned before in a similar context.

The shop should take the shoes back provided they haven't been worn outside and are still in the same condition as when she bought them. Could you or someone else go with her if she isn't confident returning them?

I don't know if they'll be any use for someone with hammer toe, but my mum recently had a bunion operation and so needed very wide and comfy shoes afterwards and she found Hotter Shoes (www.hottershoes.com) - they have a few shops and stockists around the country so if there is one nearby your mum might be able to try some on.
  • My mum had shoes specially made after a GP referral to the Surgical Applicances Unit at the hospital. However, her condition is inoperable and we had exhausted every highstreet and mail order company including Cosyfeet.

I understand hammer toe is operable so it may be worth your mum going to her GP to discuss this. If she is inoperable then see if she can be referred to the SAU as they will measure and make footwear specifically for the patient.
