garmin nuvi 205w - update?

I have the garmin nuvi 205w and the map is from 2008. We've looked at updating it but can't find just a UK map, it's a Europe map for £50! Is this the case for all satnavs that they charge so much for updates? I stupidly assumed that it would be a nominal cost - or free - as we'd paid so much for the unit in the first place.
Is it better to replace it or pay for the update?

This is £34 for either a download or a card

Does anything update if the garmin is connected to a PC?

they do europe which has it all,
for £75 you will not need to buy a uk or europe map again https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=33380
which is cheaper than when i got mine ,10 maps later still going strong ,so far its worked out £10 a map update and getting cheaper for each map update

short term a once update is cheaper but in the long term life time maps work out a lot cheaper if you plan on keeping the unite
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

Hope you can get it to work. My wife has one and I am her full time IT Tech Support person. I just want to chuck the entire thing out of the nearest window every time I try an update.

Not that it answers the question, but following these experiences with Garmin, I download coPilot for my iPhone for £20. It is every bit as good, indeed better than the Garmin and if you have an iPhone already, it makes it a lot cheaper
