Job change over from weekly to monthly pay, can we get any help?

My hubby is starting a new job next week which is better suited. The thing is he is currently paid weekly and his new job is monthly pay. I am not sure if he has to work a week or month in hand as of yet but either way he won't get his first pay packet for a month atleast which is going to leave us struggling financially. He is due his last pay packet from his current job this week and he will get a small amount next week but not alot as he owes some holidays.
Is there any financial help we can get to see us through for the first month until he gets paid?
We cant get loans or overdrafts as credit ratings are bad (we only have basic bank account) and the car tax is due on 1st June so if we cant afford that he wont even be able to get to work. Our gas and elec is paid weekly as we are on a meter as is our rent and other bills. Our council tax is monthly and due on the 20th.
Child benefit is not until the end of the month. We get £180 tax credits a week but we do have 4 dependants and it will not stretch far enough to see us through all the bills.
Im really starting to panic as most of the bills are direct debit and I dont want to get bank charges. Also alot of them require paying immediately and as we are on payment plans we cant be missing payments or paying late. Has anyone been in this position and know of any help we can get?

Could you be able to borrow some of friends or family till he gets paid? If not could you not explain the circumstances to your current bank and send them a copy of your hubby's contract stating payment date?Debt at Highest Sept 07 - £33,929 - Debt Free Since 24/10/08 :cool:0

Once he has started the new job it might be worth approaching the employer and explaining the situation and that he was previously monthly paid and seeing if the would consider a small advance from his first month's salary. It might still leave things tight but if you have a month of extra belt tightening perhaps you could manage?
What date is he starting the new job? does the new contract state what date they are paid? If he starts next week then he may well find he is paid 2weeks salary at the end of May which would help with the transition (usually people don't work a month in hand when paid monthly although it is possible I guess).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Have you always been up to date with your Council tax payments? If so could you let that one slip from 20th May and pay it at the end of the month as soon as he gets paid? I seem to recall paying late one month without dire consequences although if you do it more than once they are likely to come after you for the full year's bill at one go.Make £2025 in 2025
