Just to share with you that the same alternative telephone number l used last year to renew my Tax Credit claim was again successful this year.

20 minutes total on the phone so no additional charges.

There were numerous alternative contact numbers for renewing tax credits floating around this site this time last year as I remember reading the posts.

At the time it seemed to be "pot luck" as to whether or not the tc staff allowed you to renew on the number you had called or whether they advised you that they could not do your renewal and made you call back on the 0845 number.

I think some of the alternative numbers found on sites such as "saynoto0870" were merely designed for over seas callers and when you called you were asked where you were calling from....

You appear to have been lucky as in they have let you use this number for the second year running.

I received my renewal pack this morning and spent 40 mins on hold before giving up and throwing the letter in the post. Ok so maybe it will take an extra few days to reach them and be dealt with but its better than hanging on the phone.

Anyone else renewed by post ? Roughly how long did your new payments take to be made?
