Acer Aspire 5622WLMi Fan Replacement

I too have an Acer Aspire laptop, model 5622WLMi. The cooling fan does not work most of the time.
It comes on quietly (as one would expect) when the machine is first switched on, but only runs for a few seconds.
Sometimes it cuts in loadly and I believe that this is its fast speed. So it would appear that it doesn't run at all in slow speed. Is there any way to force it to run at fast speed until I get a replacement?
I've re-plugged the connection and blown it with an airduster.
These are some photos:

The two copper heatsinks are rivetted to the fan, so I am suspecting that it comes as one unit. Does this sound plausible?

Did it work before? Perhaps there is a BIOS update.0

What's put me on to the fan is the fact that the area next to the keyboard where it is located gets so warm. I can bear my hand on it, but it gets very warm.
Only hanging it (carefully!) off the side of a table and looking underneath did I realise that it was stopped, although having felt it run when it first comes on and put my hand next to the vent on the side, I now can tell when it's on and not on.0 -
Check the BIOS setup pages - many have the option to change the fan behaviour.
Mine for example has the option of "Fan always on when on AC power" under Device Options.0 -
Blowing with the airduster appears to have done the trick, no doubt!
There is nothing in the BIOS with respect to the fan. No settings and no information on running temperature.
I did wonder whether it was caused by the fact that I was running it off the mains and without the battery, but it works fine without battery.0
