Hi need some advice regarding CTC and WTC.
I work 16 hours per week, and hubby works 42 hours per week. We have 3 children ages 2, 7 and 12
I have called TC's to tell them that i am now working (started 27th april), estimated mine and Hubbys income for the yr 2011/2012 which totals £28k
I also told them how much childcare would be for the year for 2 children (7yr old will go in the hols)
My payments havent changed, well actually they have they have gone down by £1 per week.
When i put the figures into entitledto.com it tells me we will get WTC and help towards child care, but im not getting anything.
After speaking to a friend in a position where she gives advice to ppl claiming benefits, she said she had an email from TC's saying that the new limit is 20 hours to be able to get WTC and Chilcare help.
Can anyone advise? is this correct?
Thankyou in advance

When my OH was working full time and I was working 20 hours per week we received only CTC, we where not entitled to WTC or any help with childcare. our joint annual income was around the £26000 mark***** on the road to debt freedom *****

Thanks Bella
on entitledto it asked for 2010/11 income and mine was none, so instead i put in this years figures and it came up that i was not entitled to anything except the CTC. I thought they were calculated on the yr befores earnings??
Oh well, not to worry, at least i know now and not worrying about missing out buy 4 hours work lol0 -

You only need to be working 16 hours each for childcare help.
Entitledto asks for 2010/11 income and this is correct, and it also asks if your 2011/12 income is likely to be >10k greater, because that's the disregard. If 2011/12 income is less than 10k more than 2010/11 it is quite right to give you the answer based on 2010/11 income.
In my experience it's a very reliable calculator, if you answer the questions carefully. If you're getting a vastly different amount I'd make sure TCO are using the right details.0 -
My understanding (correct me if I am wrong) if the joint household income is above £17K then no working tax credit will be paid.0

Just wanted to update this as ive now received my new award letter.
We have been granted the Child care element of working tax credit: £450.82 Per year.
plus we still get our child tax credit.
This is all based on a total household income of £28500 (2011-12) with a previous years income of £20000 (2010-11)
Thought maybe this might be of help to anyone else who wonders the same question as i did0
