I was thinking of getting some really cheap and cheerful stuff of ebay to see if it works for this year and then getting some better net when I'm sure it's not going to collapse or take off in the wind.
  • i have made a fruit cage out of an old gazebo too (did it about 2 weeks ago) but it has been so windy, i haven't had a chance / hope in getting a net on it yet

i got (blagged) a load of debris netting - from a scaffolding company - as they were finishing a job they were doing - that's the best kind of netting (free)
saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk
    made loads last year
  • 99p shop sells netting. Dunno how much you'd need, but I doubt more than 4 lots.
The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

I was thinking about children's plastic wendy houses (this is what they're called in the west midlands, but people might know them better as play houses) as possibly providing a good frame for smaller fruit cages-say for blueberries, blackberries etc. Covered in cheap netting I think they would be a good size and easy to dis-assemble at the end of the season. Now to find one...

We bought windbreak and netting from here and it's lasted years in a very windy area.

I had some debris netting off ebay 2m x 20m for £19.99 including postage, should last a good while.
