Hi ds980 - Best practice is to never accept at face value the tariff offered by your present supplier when your present contract with them ends.
Always hit the Switch sites with your annual Kwh figures to get alternative prices, and don't be surpised that your present supplier has a better tariff than the one they are offering, but did not tell you about0 -

Thats what has just happend to me with Eon. My contract ended on May 1st and they just put me on what they call their standard tariff. After hitting the comparison sites I noticed it is far more expensive than some of the other tariffs they had but didnt notify me of. They rely on people not knowing, not bothering to find out or just not being bothered in general. But their standard reply is that you can always check on their site for better deals yourself.0 -
hi,
thanks for responses. I know that BG is our best option and we dont use all that much anyway so the savings are relatively low anyway so just want to find best deal when staying with them if possible. We will go straight to their standard rate once our websaver rate expires so will be looking at their latest probably ie websaver 11 or whatever it is?0 -
If you haven't done the research, then how do you know the savings are 'relatively low'?
Inputting your figs into a comp site takes less than 2 minutes, switching online via a cashback takes maybe 20 minutes.
Those two steps alone could get you £80-£100 cashback plus maybe a 15% bill saving-not bad for less than half an hour's work?No free lunch, and no free laptop

i just said i know that BG are the best option didnt I? So whats the best way to get that £100 is what im saying? Quidco, uswitch, etc0

You did say that, but you didn't give any evidence to support your claim.
If you are not switching suppliers, then you won't get any cashbacks. No free lunch, and no free laptop
