16 year old, what benefits

my 16 year old son is hoping to go into supported housing accomodation soon, what benefits would he be entitled to, i know he will still get his dla, of hrc and lrm, but what else will he get.
i will most likely no longer get any child benefit or child tax credits for him, even tho he will be at college as he wont be living with me.
so i wont be able to help him financially
hope someone can help

What do you mean by supported housing?
It is possible he could claim Income Support and housing benefit but it depends on his circumstances. Benefits under 18yrs have different rules to over 18 so he needs to speak to a benefits advisor.

my son has disabilities, supported housing, is very similar to sheltered housing for older people
he is hoping to get a flat, that is in a block, there will be always a support worker on duty 24/7, someone will help him with budgeting, make sure he is keeping it reasonably clean and tidy, and will help him prepare for independant living at a later stage

Is the supported housing funded by any particular organisation or will he need to find rent, pay for bills etc?
It is worth contacting the benefits advisor or getting his support worker to contact the benefits advisors on his behalf to discuss what he can claim. His support worker probably already has information about this.

    quick update
if a young person leaves home but is still in full time education, then parents can still claim ctc and cb to support them.
only if a young person and their parents are estranged, can the young person claim benefits in their own right
updateing in case anyone else finds themselves in similar situation

If you look at the date at the start of the thread you will see that it was started in May :)

I think the OP is updating all those people who were taking an interest in her circumstances (from this thread and, I believe, another one?)

yep just updating. i did indeed told the dwp etc about the situation, but a lot posted saying they was wrong, and i shouldnt be claiming for sons no longer living at home. i also checked with cab who told me same, but as i was seeing my solicitor yesterday anyway, i asked her about it, to be 100 per cent sure
so for all those that doubted me, i have concrete proof, that i am not claiming anything i shouldnt be, and i am still supporting my sons financially and otherwise
