I am also in the process of changing from SP to BG.
I never ever thought I'd return to BG when I left them years ago but ...
SP Customer Service was appalling.
BG Webserver 11 may be slight ly cheaper for me but the Customer Service I have had from BG by phone so far was so much better than SP.
I hope it continues.
I had a meter reader from SP arrive today, nothing to do with the handover apparently.
BG said the handover would take approx 6 weeks.
I haven't been asked yet to give BG my meter readings. Expect that in a week or so.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Hi the change over as happened for me on the 03/05/11. I also never thought I would return to BG & agree with the service of SP, last conversation I had with SP was with them putting the phone down on me!joe2cool0

Hi,
When i transfered over to BG from SP it took around two weeks to receive my final bills. They gave me two seperate bills one for each fuel.
I had to ring SP to arrange a refund of the balance they owed me.0 -
I'm learning the hard way that switching to British Gas is not a very smooth process. I was given a start date of May 6th and was asked for a meter reading on the 5th. Nothing happened - with no explanation I received another start date of May 12th. I was also advised in the email that I'd selected to pay by Quarterly Variable Direct Debit - which I didn't. I chose Monthly Variable Direct Debit which is the whole point of giving monthly accurate readings online with Energy Smart. I also currently have Economy 7 with my old supplier which due to a change in circumstances I want to get rid of. I asked what this would entail in terms of changing the meter (or do they just combine two readings and charge at one price) and they said they can't tell me until my account has been set up.
I just hope this shambles isn't their normal level of service.0 -
Hi joe2cool,
When leaving ScottishPower we will not be able to finalise your account until we receive the final reading from your new supplier. This usually takes a couple of weeks and if you have a credit balance we would normally refund this automatically.
If you have any problems witht he change of supplier process you can e-mail me at onlinecomplaitns@scottishpower.com and I will be happy to help.
Kind regards
