Oh sorry, just had a thought. Your could mark off a specific 'date night' in the calendar instead of buying tickets for something and include a planned menu for the evening (printable on Waitrose website) and various homemade vouchers, eg. massage.0

How about asking her what she wants???
I know there's this myth about being a different species but what's wrong with asking each other what you want - works wonderfully for us and we both knew that we're getting things we actually want and need.
Perhaps you can get a list to chose from so it'll be a surprise of the nice (not teeth gritting) kind

Cheers all.
This is all good input. Well apart from the deep fat fryer! Id rather not make the day memorable for the wrong reasons! lol!
I think we have discussed a budget of £50 but ill probably go a bit over that.
I really like the hamper idea - Good one! :T
Im not really into asking her what she wants, I dont like not thinking about something like this. Just feels like ive put no effort in.
She is 23 (im 26 and nearly 27 on hogmanay so im edging toward the top of the hill!) A typical girly girl all baby pink and sparkly things make her eyes light up!
This has given me a few ideas.
Thanks All
Really appreciated.
If you see anything else that you really like then post it let me know

How about this....( My boyfriend did this for me a few years ago, although we are no longer together I will treasure this forever)
You say you have just holidayed to Barca..... Im sure you will have lots of photographs and lasting memories. Buy a nice album and stick in photographs adding little captions above them... at the back of the album put a snap of the two of yous.
I remember opening this gift and looking through it, I cried buckets... very romantic And very cheap.
Or you could always have a star named after her.
I hope this helps

Hi
I received a subscription to my favourite magazine last Christmas and really loved it. Especially if you are budgeting at the moment, a weekly/monthly magazine is something you do not necessarily purchase whilst watching your pennies.SSB0 -

My wife and I usually do that if we buy presents for each other. The beauty of it is that it can lead you on to other ideas that you now know she'll like and gives her that added surprise as well.
For example she wants a certain perform, why not get her the perform gift set instead that contains other items. Or maybe she needs a new hair drier so what about a nice grooming set as well.
Going on experience, women can never have enough shoes, handbags, grooming/beauty products.Regards,
Dave

For my 40th birthday myDH,DD andDS got together to make me a special CD of my fve songs and they introduced each one themselves with a loving message. They then put a photo onto the CD. It took them ages, was free, but was the best present I have ever had because it was done with sooo much love. I play it in the car all the time.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0

If you buy her tickets or treament vouchers, do what I did one year for my OH's birthday. I bought her new iron (it was a really good one as well!) when she unwrapped it, the look on her face. She didn't know if to laugh or cry. I said `Open it, it's got some really cool features.... look when you press this button it does this' etc. She still had the same look, albeit was more turning to crying/anger now. However after a few minutes I couldn't let her disappointment/joy last any longer and pointed out she should look at the bottom of the box. In amongst the instructions was 2 tickets to New York. That moment was priceless!0
