What sort of things is she into....? Knowing this, would help!
  • I have mentioned to my OH that I hope that Santa goes to Primark this Christmas (Lots of lovely fleecy jim jams, throws, candles, coconut body wash, cocoa butter body cream, strawberry shampoo, etcetera etcetera)

I also mentioned James Morrison, Paolo Nutini and Joshua Radin cds. (Joshua Radin is kind of Simon and Garfunkle meets Gary Jules).

Later, I mentioned a perfume that I had bought my niece and how lovely and delicious it smelled. It is called Morgan Love - smells kind of fruity. Sexy, too.

We went to Ikea to buy some shelving units. While we were there we saw some candles - vanilla, chocolate, coffee. And I was like ooooh, smell this, smell that, oooooohhhhh! And lots of lovely lamps at bargainous prices.

I have bought some books for (female) friends that I think they will love: The Three Day Rule and The Ex Boyfriends Handbook.

I would only go for the red underwear thing if you know for a fact that she likes it. Personally,I don't.

He knows I am a bit of a Betty Boopster. I am hoping for mobile phone charms/slippers/marshmallows-in-a-Betty-Boop-tin/belly ring/ornament. That kind of thang.
  • Getting good presents means getting something that she'd really like - so you need to give some ideas about what she's into for us to really be able to help...

saying that - if she likes going to theatre etc. maybe you could get her tickets for a show (can get some cheap deals on lastminute) and promise that you'll take her out for a nice meal at the same time..
or maybe you could find a really nice photo of the 2 of you (one in which she looks good) and put it in a frame for her..
or maybe a subscription to her favourite magazine?
nice jewellary always goes down well, but that doesn't tend to be very cheap

Hi Ferrett, I used to never drop any hints to my OH and ended up with nighties your nan wouldn't even wear and size 6 slippers again my nan would've been mortified to wear. I had to return the stuff every time. The past couple of years I tell him exactly what to go for and he has been spot on . I even showed him the direction to go , in M&S one year (I wanted a cocktail set) and when I opened my present on xmas day I got a cocktail shaker but not the one from Marks , he said he couldn't find it !!! Again I would agree with previous posters and get to know what she is interested in for instance I enjoy cooking so this year I pointed my husband in the direction of cooking gadgets etc good luck shrewdal

this is a great idea , why dont you ask her what she would like ? took my OH years to figure that little nugget out but now xmas is great cos i get what i want and not what he thinks i might want , and he always throws a little xtra joke prize in too which is fun
golden rule if you wanna save money get her what she wants otherwise its money badly spent
my name is Kit and im addicted to competitions , the what if is my driving force :D !!

and what do you call a budget Ferrett? And what sort of age are we looking at?

    usual suspects for good ideas...
    https://www.reddirect.co.uk for good value handbags
    Primark for pashminas (big scarf/shawls)
Lush are great for bath bombs, body lotion, massage bars (although don't buy one unless you intend to use it ;) ) etc they do ready made gift packs if you can't decide but it's fun to browse
https://www.hannahzakari.com - use code hzhb10 for 10% off - cute little badges, charms etc
    https://www.artyfax.com for Pilgrim jewellery
H&M good for pashminas again and for leather gloves
Accessorize is great for sparkly things - clutch bags are a good gift (around £20-£30) something like this http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/88951453 is classic but trendy or this is classic and looks a lot more expensive than it is http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/88934203

if you want more specific ideas then ask ;)

You could do what 'Jim Royale' did from the Royale family one year, buy her a deep fat fryer, what women could resist!

That's christmas dinner sorted anyway :D

    Best of luck!!!
    Regards,
    Dave

If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button :D

Lots of beauty salons do gift vouchers, as do day spas.

You could get her a treatment or 2.

It was my birthday last week & I had a chocolate body scrub & chocolate oil body massage. A caviar facial, a head massage & a set of acrylic nails, nice short ones with permenant white tips & an industructable resin clear top coat.

Is she in to these sorts of things, most of us females are.

Often you can get vouchers to the value of, so you don't have to choose.

A floatation tank is something else I want to try, would she like that?

You can't go wrong with facials, massages, head massages, manicures, pedicures, aycrlic nails, hair dos, ECT

I all I'm new here but thought one of my OH's presents this year may help.

I nicked the hamper idea and made it into a 'you and me' box, including the DVD of the film we watched (on video) on our first date (cost about £2), a personalised keyring with a photo of us he doesn't know I have (free just paid £1 for delivery) and various other things which mean something to us as a couple. Also a his and hers calendar, showing the date of the Sugababes tickets I booked in the presale for him.

It's worked out quite cheap (except the tickets) and any girl would be chuffed to bits that so much thought went into it.
