4 weekly - weekly - 4 weekly

Long story short,
we changed our tc's from weekly to 4 weekly in april in order to help us budget better as a friend had advised it would be easier getting a lump sum than working it week by week.
cue a grilling month of scrimping and scraping with no weekly payments.
4 weeks later on 6th May tc's were paid
paid childminder 4 weeks worth (used to pay her weekly - but cleared the new 4weekly payment with her first)
a few days after we realised that the 4 weekly payments did not suit us due to needing to pay things weekly ie. petrol & parking for work ect (i have always had weekly payments so found it easier to work money out)
Called tc's to change back to weekly - told to call back a few days later for notification and details of change payments.
called today to be told that on the 13th we will get a one of payment of £xx (a quarter of what should be paid)
Followed by a payment of £xx each week after that (£30ish less than what we usualy get)
I asked them how i was supposed to pay my childcare this week and they just replied by saying it wasnt their problem and that was that.
I cant understand why payments have drasticaly dropped from what we used to get and the 4 weekly payment to the weekly payments we are now due?
TC said that through out the tax year we still get the same ammount - but i dont see how we do, as if we stay 4 weekly it is £100+ more over a 4 week period than what 4 weekly payments would be??
Can anyone shed any light?
I dont know what to do for the best now - they advised changing back to 4 weekly again - but i would rather have weekly - i feel trapped now and struggling to understand.
Really sorry for rambeling - i hope someone can help or give advice -

has this been done whilst they were in the process of calculating your new claim?
if so the the new entitlmenet may be lower that last year0 -
I believe childcare payments have been reduced. Could this be the issue?0

every time they recalculate your amounts and give you a payment, the resultant payments reduce (although as you said over the course of the year it's the same)DF0
