I have been dying to try Nails Inc nail polish for a long while now so when it was on the cover of a mag this week I snaffled one up. Tried the polish, was very impressed and thought I'd treat myself to some from their website. Living in NI for the last 7 years I've learnt to check delivery charges before going all the way through checkout but usually find the jacked up charges apply to heavy or fragile items. Imagine my surprise/disgust to find that Nails Inc charge £12.95 to deliver a 10ml bottle of nail varnish to NI.
Well done Nails Inc you've just lost yourself a brand new customer before I've bought anything. I know they have a concession in Belfast but I am not willing to pay £14 on the train to visit there either.
I know they wont care that I wont be buying from them, but it makes me cross that NI is classed as abroad by so many companies, why can't they send small items like that by Royal Mail, thereby charging the same to all UK citizens.
Sorry, rant over, I feel better for getting that off my chest.

I'm sure you can get these products from other sources? Aren't they available on one of the TVshopping channels?0

twistedhazel, I know exactly what you mean and it kills me too. So many things you either can't get here or are cheaper to buy online, until someone decided that NI isn't part of the UK (yes it is!) and they can charge a fortune!
On a side note, I live in Belfast so if you wanted I could get you the nail polish and post it (RM!) to you if that helps. PM me if you wantThough if you're so disgusted by Nails Inc you don't want to bother I understand totally!

It might be that the nail varnish is flammable and classes as dangerous goods for shipping.
All courier companies charge a premium for handling DG (especially if they are being sent via air mail) so the £12.95 may well be a fair reflection of the actual costs involved in shipping to NI.0 -
Nail varnish is a flammable liquid and cannot be posted. The reality is that many people do post such products, but it is on the list of banned items Royal Mail will not accept for delivery. It sounds like Nails Inc are one of the few companies who are actually adhering to the rules.
As for the high delivery costs, they are only passing on the charges from the courier company. If you want to blame someone, blame the courier companies who all charge a big surcharge to deliver to NI, the Scottish Highlands and various other parts of the UK.0 -
Ah, thank you for that bap, it just goes to show that I shouldn't always leap to a conclusion.......
Fair enough if them's the rules I hold my hands up and confess that I overreacted this time!
I take back my harsh words.
Many thanks to the poster who offered to get them for me and post via RM but I wont ask you to contravene their rules, they exist for a good reason I guess.
I might have to look into ordering them from QVC at some point instead as their postage is only £3.45.0 -
I didn't realise you couldn't post nail varnish, I've posted and received it a good few times via RM, sometimes by itself and sometimes with other items in the order too.

I live in England and unfortunately have never been to northern ireland soo might not have enough knowledge on the types of stores you have but like Freddy said, if you live near a Boots, they sell them, as do debenhams. As for online, try Amazon and debenhams deliver to NI for £3.99.
Although nails inc nail varnish is good, I wouldn't spend the full amount on it, it lasts just as long as a normal say £2-£3 nail varnish. I don't think there is anything special about them as such. All my nails inc. nail varnishes are from when boots were doing the Diet Coke promotion.0
