i recieved retirement pension in 2008 but it is reduced as i did not have enough contributions. On checking my husbands projected pension it say he needed 30 years contributions.I had 20 years self employed cons and 10 years home responsibility protection i only get £67 a week instead of the £104 full pension.Ithere any way i can query this now or is it too late.I assumed as i was self employed that my cons did not count but it seems they do. thanks

The rules have changed recently to lower the number of years of NI contributions required to qualify for a full pension to 30. Unfortunately, if you reached retirement age before this, then the old rules apply (which I think were 39 years for women, 44 for men). So you'll only get a partial pension with 30 years contributions, whilst if your husband is still to reach retirement, he'll get a full pension with the same number of years.0
