Anyone switched from Virgin Media landline to VOIP ??

Has anyone on here completely switched from Virgin Media landline to VOIP? If so, was it a smooth process porting your number? Also, did Virgin Media up your Virgin broadband cost as you no longer have a landline?
At initial glance, it looks tempting to completely switch to VOIP as this will save the landline cost of £13 per month + features like calling display which cost extra on Virgin are free on VOIP.
However, as a new customer, the broadband packages are £10 per month more when you don't have a landline which only equates to a £5 saving per month (when you take into account Virgin charge £2 per month for caller display).
I'm not a new customer, I'm an existing customer.
Someone told me they managed to port their number from Virgin onto VOIP and disconnect their landline without seeing their Virgin broadband monthly cost rise.
I have the TV package as well so don't know whether I'd still get a discount as I'd still have two services.
