Hi I bought a pack of 6 herbs in pots from Aldi on Thursday when I looked at them closely the pots Oregano and Thyme seemed to be made of lots of little seedlings. I'm not sure what to do with them now. Did anyone else buy this pack? Do I need to thin them out and can they be planted outdoors yet? Any advice would be appreciated

You might be able to split the pack into 2 or even 4 and plant these out as separate plants. I would not try to thin them out.0

I bought them last year and transferred them all to a trough. They thrived well throughout the summer, apart from the basil which I NEVER have any success with! I left the trough outside through the winter and all the herbs (except of course the basil!) are growing again. I wish, however, I had heeded advice on here regarding mint. It is popping up all over the trough and experts suggest planting it alone because of it's habit of spreading everywhere!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

If each pot is a fairly solid mass of seedlings then just pull it apart into 2/3/4 pieces and plant out. Thyme and Oregano tend to like living in little colonies rather than singly. If the seedlings are still very small then it might be wirth letting them grow on in the pot (you can leave it outside, with the pot plunged into the earth) for a week ir two before you split them. Lessens the shock of planting them out.Val.0

Thanks for the replies everyone will try burying the Thyme and Oregano as suggested and splitting them up in a couple of weeks. Think I will keep the Basil in the kitchen and treat it with kid gloves.
Well done pinkcandyflossprincess with your seeds, am impressed. Will be interesting to see which Basil does the best0
