Balance Transfer problem

Hi every1, need some help with a balance transfer that I have recently done.

I had an outstanding balance of £1742 on a virgin credit card and after paying it for months I realised I was mainly paying just the interest so I opened up a barclay card where balance transfers are 0% for 20months.......

I requested for barclay to transfer £1700 and I payed £42 to the virgin card so then there should have been noting left on it.

Anyway I have just checked my virgin account online and the balance now says £1672.19, so they have taken some money through a direct debit aswell as the £42 I paid. I went onto my barclay account and that balance says £1754 (£54 being the cost of doing the transfer) so they have done the transfer but it hasnt come off the virgin card and thats why they have taken a payment.........So who do I speak to first, virgin or barclays?

Hope this makes sense.

I recently transferred onto Barclaycard and there was around 4 days where Barclaycard had increased the balance (ie the transfer had happened) yet my other card had not changed (ie the transfer had not happened).

I put it down to BACS so it'll take around a week to appear on both accounts. It was fine after a week for me...but it's a scary week waiting for the transfer to show!

Hope that eases your mind a little - unless of course it's been more than a week since the transfer - then I'd ring both Barclaycard and Virgin!
  • Ah I see....I am just worried that I have lost out on some money seen as though Virgin have taken the required monthly amount out of my bank which brings my virgin balance below £1700 and now I have a balance of £1700 on the barclays card.

It can take up to 10 business days to appear. When it does appear at Virgin, do check the statement as min DD are still collected, regardless of what extra payments are received from Barclays ect. It won't collect a DD if statement shows you're in credit. Once you have had your statement, and therefore paid any residual interest, if you are in credit, just phone MBNA and ask for the credit.
