the forum has made a huge difference to many of us. just knowing you're not the only one in such a mess makes a huge difference.
i still find having cash in my hands EVERY week for food&fuel a huge buzz!
you're doing so well,big hug x0 -
Financially ( and as a consequence, emotionally) I am so much better off in IVA than I was before! And, far from being alone, you will discover people in IVA's from all walks of life and at all income levels ( I guess the more you earn the more you could borrow !!).
As FD says .. you are doing well ... keep it up :-)0 -
Foggy, hi, you are so right about the emotional side of this, i think it's this side that we often don't discuss, we are so geared up to the practical side of things - which is v important. food for thought , hope you're well x0

Hi Worredchick
I wnet food shopping at the weekend with the family... what a great feeling to pay in cash.. not spending what you don't have and trying to come back with change was great, the kids were able to get an ice cream.
It was always so easy to just wack it on the card and forget it!!!! not anymore..
good luck keep postingNever make assumptions always ask questions>>>>>;)0 -
This thread has made me consider moving from a DMP to a IVA. Apologies for hijacking your thread but you have had such good answers that I hope I might find a answer for some of my questions!
We go to France every year and scrape by to make that happen, My husbands parents live there, his father has lukemia and we go out for a week so we can prepare them for winter - chopping wood, help with repairs etc. My husband thinks having a stricter budget would mean we couldnt do this. We pay for travel with tesco vouchers so the trip is normally £300 in fuel and expenses.
Also I have a motability vehichle and have to save some money for renewal time as we need a automatic. We are a 2 car family, being 10 miles from doctors/supermarket etc with no public transport we couldnt be without. How hard would it be to have this in our budget? I have also started my own business.... not knowing our income from this how would it effect things?!0 -

Hi.
Didn't want to read and run but not sure enough to answer your questions with regards to your business and the cars. Sorry:(
Have you thought of speaking to your DMP company about the possibility of an IVA. Also you could pay a visit to https://www.iva.com and ring a couple of the companies on there and they would be able to give you some free and impartial advice to help you decide whether you are doing what suits you best. I guess it depends on how much debt you have, how long have you been in the DMP and how much longer is it likely to go on for?
The budget is strict within an IVA but I would think that if you are able to save anything from your 'allowances' then there would be no reason to stop your trips to France.
I am sure somebody will come along soon and help you properly!;)0 -
Thank you for that - rang cccs after my call and we would be eligable for a IVA and have been refered for a callback to discuss it. Writing out a long list of questions I have now!0

That's good. Glad somebody is going to get back to you.
Let us know how you get on!
