A Stupid BIN Offer on auction listing

I listed something last night at a £4.99 start as an auction.
Today someone offered me £3.50 to end it early, do they really not understand how auctions work? Or maybe they're just hopeful?

Nothing wrong with that - especially if there are no bids on it. You might as well give it a go. It's usually a no, but hey, someone might say yes....0

I will give you £2.99 for it?I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0

If I was going to be happy with a lower amount I would have started it lower. Offering £5.50 I could understand but less is just daft.0 -

There's plenty wrong with it. Have you thought of jumping off a tall building, flapping your arms, and trying to fly? It might work.0 -

Yep. Think you missed the subtleties of his OP0

The new rules mean that any buy it now has to be 40 per cent above the start price.0

I think it has to be *over* 40% (despite it saying to the contrary)...I listed something for £100 auction price, and £140 BIN. A warning came up to say that I had to make the BIN price higher as it was under 40%!
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
There's a thin line between haggling and trying to get something for less and annoying the seller to the point you don't get anything.
I've sold and bought in auctions for a long time, when buying, I always like the buyers who offer stupid amounts as the auctioneer soon tires of them and moves on to someone else. As a seller on Ebay I've blocked a few that have offered ridiculous amounts, the ones that tend to annoy me the most are when they offer less than it would cost to post, with one recent customer it would have been cheaper to send him £100 than accept the offer he made..0
