What To Do With Old Notes
Gleek
My grandad unfortunately had to go into a care home for some respite whilst we emptied his house. In doing so we've found a number of old £20 notes that are now out of circulation.
We don't live anywhere near London and won't be making any trips down to it anytime soon so can't get to the Bank of England.
The notes are the ones that were removed from circulation in June last year - would our banks still take them? A quick google says they would after June for 'some months' but I was wondering if anyone had any recent knowledge of changing them. Will give them a call in the morning otherwise.
Thanks

I'd try taking them to your local bank. I think they'll accept them.0

I'd take them to the bank and find out for sure.
My mum had some coins from who knows when that were out of circulation and took them to a bank branch one week and they said there was nothing they could do. The next week she took them to a different branch of the same bank and they exchanged them.0 -
Fantastic, that's encouraging. Thanks guys
