Car heaters problem

Hello everyone
i have a v reg fiesta and the heaters wont turn off or even onto cold so i renewed the heater valve, emptied the coolant and renewed that and now the heaters are even worse please help

Air vent flaps under the dash not moving into the correct position.

I believe it is possible to incorrectly fit the temp control knob so that it does not actually operate the mechanism behind leaving it stuck usually in hot.

I had a similar problem on an old Ford Escort. It coincided with the automatic choke being on and the engine always revving high and using a lot of fuel.

If I remember correctly it was due to a faulty temperature sensor and cost less than £50 to fix. The sensor was incorrectly reporting a cold engine which caused all the other problems.
