If you do get a cheque I advise photocopying it before you take it to the bank. The way things are going they could easily ask you to return it.
I must admit I have never had trouble like this. My wife (who is supposedly a non tax payer) has though.
When I filled my self assessment in the previous 2 years the refund appeared in my bank account the same day in both cases.
My wife took about six months to get hers back.
No reason for the differences except I filed on line, she did not because she is a non taxpayer and they will not allow her to claim overpayment on line. It has to be paper.0 -
why would they ask for it to be returned? the man on phone said there was no problems with tax return etc and everything was fine?!Wins for 2008 July - lazytown dvd, £5 Virgin vie voucher, various impulse mp3 downloads,

Hi,
I have had the same issues. Repayment was requested twice and still it showed as available...? I later that week called them and was dealt with quite suspiciously. The agent explained they might be able to release the payment manually...? But unfortunately this failed
they then claimed it was beyond their expertise and I would have to wait 4-6 weeks for a letter or phone call to explain the situation with my return....? Very odd as I have no idea as to why this has happend...? Normally the payment is made within 1week to 10days of online completion. Having log in this morning I found that my payment is now pending.....? Is this good news?
Thanks0 -
Yes it means it has been approved to be released and on its way in their own sweet time :-)"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
