Core i5 processor information needed

Thinking of buying a Dell 580MT as urgent replacement for current PC (long story). This is a core i5 desktop version. Just been reading reviews in PC Pro and realise I should get latest Intel chips but time is of the essence. So will settle for best performing core i5 which I can get at decent price. But want best performing model.

PC Pro recommends Core i5 655k. Asked Dell via their helpline which one they use in the 580 and they just parrot its a core i5. Can't be a Core i5 580 as there is no such model.

Anyone know or care to take a look at theDell product description for me and see if they can work it out? (Budget is max £800 with software).

BTW NO desktop core i5s in stock anywhere in PC world in south and west London. On display yes, in stock no.

There are some slightly different models here, but the specs appear to be almost identical. The XPS 8300 might be worth a look too.
