Handirack roof bars
Hi was just wondering if anyone has had any experience using these inflatable roof bars. How easy is it to secure something (a surf board) to them, will it stay in place even on the motorway. Do they scratch the roof of the car as some reviews say.
Any experience you wish to share really
Thanks in advance, Kate

I haven't had any experience with them myself, but if they had a tendency to come off during motorway driving I doubt they would be allowed to sell the things.

When i saw adverts for them all i could think about were the inflatable camping beds. The ones that
keep going down. I have my doubts about their long term reliability.
Especially with something as large as a surf board, Also think of the damage they can do to the door seals.
They are only strapped to the car so will sit on the bodywork, They are quite likely to move slightly and
cause scuffs.
A cheap set of standard roofbars would be a safer bet. I bought some and trimmed a couple of inches off the end
so they can be attached to the rear of the back seat. Always in the car if i need them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
What car do you drive? If it's something 'normal' like an Astra or Corsa then a cheap set of roof bars is the way to go as Forgotmyname has suggested. Some cars need more specialist ones due to the way they're designed (by which I mean designed in such a way as to require manufacturer-made roof racks!)

Thanks will take another look round, so far I've found barandboxes.co.uk which seem to do basic bars to fit for around £59 fee postage much cheaper than anything I've found so far for a megane hatch ebay always has bargains for every model but mine!Final no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

Always the case, Luckily my car has the roof rails fitted so cheapo universal bars fit.
Last time i bought some from a car shop £50 which had been opened & badly repackaged.
Someone must have bought the wrong ones.
Paying £100+ for psh shiny ones seems pointless when i just want to pile planks and other
bulky items onto them. They are there to protect the car otherwise i would just sellotape
the stuff to the roof. Ive done worse.
Not as bad as what i saw on friday, Wood hanging out from the slightly open hatch and fingers...
I thought they were the fake plastics ones until they moved...
Someone must have been lying in the back holding onto the stuff.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
