Balance transfer on cancelled card

Hi,
I have recently cancelled a credit card with Lloyds TSB and intended to pay the balance back over time but was later advised to get a 0% credit balance transfer. I applied to Barclaycard and was accepted but the balance transfer can't go through. Apparently this is because the expiry date on the Lloyds card has sinced passed therefore invalidating the card for balance transfer purposes (as far as Barclaycard is concerned). Is there no way I can get a balance transfer in these circumstances? It seems a rather petty reason for not accepting.:(

The card would have to be kept live for the balance transfer to work, get in touch with Lloyds and ask them to reissue the card and once the transfer has gone through then just re cancel the card.0

Thanks, Bengalknights. I have contacted Lloyds and the card has now been reinstated so I'm back on track hopefully.
