Hi. The official end date of my degree is on the first of June, and so far I've been unable to secure work. Basically living on air right now.
I understand that I can start claiming benefits from that date. My question is do I approach JSA and the council now, or do I wait until that date to make a claim? The finance advisor at the university said something about making an advanced claim to get the paperwork moving.
I have an interview this week, so hope this is all academic. Otherwise I don't have a clue as I've never been out of work since I left school in 2000.

You won't be able to make a claim until the official end date of your degree so your finance adviser has given you incorrect advice.
Put all your energy into securing the job that you're being interviewed for this week, research the organisation, build up a list of questions that you think you might be asked at the interview and prepare answers, think of some questions that you'd like to ask at the interview, ask a friend / relative to give you a mock interview, do whatever you can to prepare for the interview and don't even think about claiming benefits as that's admitting defeat even before the interview.0
